YINZER MOBBER SPOTLIGHT:
DANIEL SIMS, RUCKERSVILLE, VA
]Tell us a little more about yourself
I’m a long time Steeler fan dating back to the 70’s , My parents were Redskins fans and my sisters were Cowboys fans…so naturally I’m the only one with any sense in my family! I am born and raised in Ruckersville Virginia and have had season tickets since Heinz Field opened. Ive been blessed to attend over 200 games both in Pittsburgh and away games.
I have a son, Caleb Sims who is 15 and has been attending games since he was 6. I also have a daughter, Taylor Sims who is 3 and has claimed that the Steelers are ” Her Steelers”. She will be making her first game next season.
If you’re not at the game, where do you watch the games at?
Our game day venue had been McGrady’s Irish Pub in Charlottesville until this year when new investors bought into the establishment and transformed it into Cho’s Nachos and Beer.

The best part about the change is that the group that bought in…are OUR people! Steeler fans!
Do you have any game day rituals?
Get up early ( if I even sleep) and get down to the stadium to setup my tailgate. I MUST have a BL mixed drink first thing in the morning. A drink named after my father BL Sims.
If you know me or been to a tailgate party then you have partaken in this tradition. A southern drink consisting of a red solo cup filled 3/4 full of bourbon and the remaining with diet coke. Strong?
..a little but our winning percentage shot up when I started doing that. Another ritual is to go through gate A on game day. It really was special before the took away the entrance to add more seats. Lastly, Afc championship game a few years ago I left my terrible towel in the truck…and we won! So you guessed it…I never carry a terrible towel to the home games.
With Pittsburgh sports in mind, who is your favorite player?
(Past and Present)
Mike Webster. I was fortunate to meet him about a month before he passed away.
Current.. That’s a tough one…I don’t really have a favorite but watch several on game day. I had an opportunity to watch Artie Burns while in Buffalo last year. I think that kid is going to be good.
